IRR(内部収益率）の最大の弱点

設備投資の判断指標の主なものにNPV（＝Net Present Value＝正味
現在価値）とIRR（＝Internal Rate of Return）の二つがあります。

この二つの指標ですが、商社に人気のIRRには、実は大きな弱点が
あります。それは規模の違いをとらえることができないということ
です。

たとえば、100円投資して、1年後に150円のキャッシュインがある
場合と100万円投資して、1年後に120万円のキャッシュインがある
場合を考えてみましょう。

前者のIRRは50％で、後者のIRRは20％です。単純に収益率が高い50
％を選択するとしたら、間違いです。

経営者として、どちらを選ぶかは明白です。経営者はこう言うかも
知れません。俺たち、率で飯食っているんじゃなくて、額で給料払
っているんだよ。

そうなんです。誰が言ったか知りませんが、経営は「率」より
「額」が大事なんです。
