比較の対象を明確にする

私たちが何かを意思決定する際に大切なことは、何と何とを比較す
るかを明確にするということです。

たとえば、あなたが財布を落としてしまったとしましょう。これを
最悪だと嘆く場合もあるかもしれませんが、給料日前でほとんどお
金が入っていなくてラッキーだったと考えることもできます。

なぜこのような違いが生まれるかといえば、比較する対象が異なる
からです。

最悪だと考えるのは、「財布を落とした場合」と「落とさない場
合」とを比較し、ラッキーだと考えるのは、財布を落としてしまっ
たという前提のもとで、「財布にお金がたくさん入っていた場合」
と「ほとんどはいっていない場合」とを比較しているからです。

このように、比較の対象が変われば、評価も変わるということを私
たちは常に念頭においておく必要があると思います。
